Sustainable entrepreneurship
Working together on a better future
Building social goals
Sustainability and social responsibility are core values here at Nedac Sorbo Mascot. We strive towards becoming a carbon and energy neutral corporation while also guarding the working circumstances of our manufacturers.
The social vision of Nedac Sorbo Mascot is defined by these three main goals:
1. Guarding and improving the work circumstances at our manufacturers.
2. Lowering impact of greenhouse emissions on the environment.
Drop in CO2 emissions from energy use
We achieved a 41% drop of carbon dioxide emissions from energy use after installing solar panels.
Replacing the entire Service Merchandisers vehicle fleet
92 order vans were replaced with low-emission passenger vehicles.
Total reduction of CO2 emissions
Our total reduction of carbon dioxide emissions in 2017 compared to 2016 was 58%.
1. Guarding & improving the work circumstances at our manufacturers
We strive to preserve good working environments and working conditions within the company and with our manufacturers.
How do we achieve this?
Nedac Sorbo Mascot is a member of the BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative). The BSCI offers a code of conduct to support companies in their quest to improve and maintain working conditions within a company and for their manufacturers. Such support includes the right to forming a union and safe working conditions, but also fighting against discrimination, child labour and slavery. It is our opinion that a company can only flourish in communities where the rights of workers, and people in general, are respected.

2. Lowering impact of greenhouse emissions on the environment
Our ambition is to become an energy and carbon neutral company. To start, we want to produce 22,5% less carbon dioxide per FTE in 2018 compared to 2013. It is our conviction that the combining of product groups, and reducing local transport and deliveries, both play a part in a more sustainable business model for all our stakeholders.
How do we achieve this?
We have already taken many steps to reducing CO2 emissions. Firstly, we invested in an entirely new vehicle fleet, replacing our lease vehicles with hybrids or completely electric cars. Where we used to supply to customers using a Ford Transit with a relatively high level of carbon dioxide exhaust, our products are now combined with other product groups and delivered together to our customers. Our service merchandisers now drive more sustainable Volkswagen Up cars to our customers in order to perform their merchandise services. We also encourage our employees to work remotely from home and to carpool.
In order to eventually become an energy neutral company, our short term goal is to make more efficient use of energy. It is for that reason that we recently invested in solar panels for our Duiven location, which has already shown a 41% decrease in our carbon dioxide emissions.
3. Lowering the impact of waste on our surroundings
We strive to separate and recycle waste as much as possible, in order to reduce our carbon impact on the community and the environment.
How do we achieve this?
The paper and carton that is collected from the company is separated, then offered to the paper industry. Here it is recycled into new paper. Glass is collected and 100% recycled to create new glass and windows. Collected foil can be washed and crushed into granulate to be made into bottles or plastic bags. Our strategy is already yielding results: a 58% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions from trash in 2017 compared to 2016.
